Seminar recap | Navigating customs compliance rules

“How does offshore trade fit in international trades?”

“How does Hainan FTP stand out from others?”

“How should customs audit be dealt with effectively?

“Is your customs valuation bulletproof?”

These were the questions at the core of WTS China’s latest seminar, “Practical Guide to Customs Compliance“, held on 5 September 2025.

The event gathered corporate leaders and compliance experts to dissect the pressing challenges of today’s trade landscape and share actionable tactics for resilient risk management.

The seminar, featuring first-hand perspectives from Martin Ng and Maggie Han, partners of WTS China, delivered targeted and practical content to the attendees.

It also provided detailed case studies to spotlight critical risk areas and audit focus, driving home a vital conclusion: proactive compliance is indispensable for any corporations engaged in international trade and is a cardinal element of supply chain management.

The seminar covered the following agenda:

  • Development of free trade zones
  • Latest trends in customs audits
  • Common disputes (classification, origin determination, royalty fees, transfer pricing); and
  • Case studies on customs controversies.

The success of the event owes much to the support of Wolters Kluwer.
